Treatments:

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that lightens the natural colour of teeth using a bleaching gel, usually based on hydrogen or carbamide peroxide. It can improve the appearance of stained or darkened teeth without cutting or reshaping the tooth.
Alp Medical Travel is a medical tourism facilitator, not a dental clinic. Examinations, diagnoses, treatment recommendations and procedures are carried out by our contracted dental clinics and dentists in Türkiye. Our role is to coordinate your treatment journey and communication with the treating clinic.
The dentist will usually discuss one of the following, depending on your teeth and how quickly you want to see results:
Which approach suits you depends on your current shade, the cause of the discolouration, and how much time you have during your stay. The treating dentist will recommend the most suitable option after an assessment. Your Alp Medical Travel coordinator will help you understand what's proposed and fit it around your itinerary.
Whitening can lighten teeth affected by everyday staining from coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco, as well as some general yellowing that happens with age. How much of a difference it makes varies from person to person — some types of discolouration respond better than others, and the dentist will give you a realistic sense of what to expect once they've examined your teeth.
One thing worth knowing before you plan treatment: whitening changes the colour of natural teeth, but it does not change the colour of existing crowns, veneers, or fillings. If you have visible restorations on your front teeth, whitening your natural teeth first can leave a difference in shade between the two. If this applies to you, it's worth raising with the dentist early on — they may suggest whitening before any new restorations are made, so everything can be matched to the new shade.
Not always. Any tooth decay or gum disease is usually treated first, since whitening gel can irritate teeth or gums that aren't in good health. People with sensitive teeth, exposed roots, or certain enamel conditions may find whitening uncomfortable, and the dentist may suggest a gentler approach or a different treatment altogether.
Whitening is also generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as a precaution rather than because of any specific known risk. As mentioned above, existing crowns, veneers, or fillings on visible teeth are also something to plan around rather than a reason to avoid whitening altogether. The dentist will talk through what applies to your situation before going ahead.
For in-office whitening, the gums are protected first, then the whitening gel is applied to the front teeth, often in more than one application during the same visit. Some systems use a light to help the gel work. For take-home whitening, the dentist takes an impression or scan to make custom trays, then gives you the gel and clear instructions on how long to wear them each day and for how many days.
Some sensitivity to hot, cold, or air during or shortly after treatment is fairly common and usually settles within a day or two. If sensitivity is severe or doesn't improve, let the treating clinic know.
There's no real downtime with whitening — most people carry on with their day as normal. The shade may change slightly during the first few days, so it's worth waiting before judging the final result.
Whitening isn't permanent. How long it lasts depends on your diet, habits like smoking, and how well you look after your teeth afterwards, and most people find they need a touch-up at some point to maintain the result.
The clinic will give you specific instructions based on the whitening method used, but general advice tends to include:
Once you're home, your Alp Medical Travel coordinator remains your point of contact and can help arrange communication with the treating clinic if you have questions about your result or future maintenance.
You will have one named coordinator from your first enquiry through your return home. With your consent, we arrange the preliminary review of your case by a partner dental clinic and coordinate:
This means you know who to contact at each stage without having to explain your case again to a new person.
Cost depends on the method chosen — in-office, take-home, or a combination — and whether whitening is done alone or alongside other dental treatment. Following a preliminary review, the partner dental clinic will prepare the proposed treatment and dental costs, and Alp Medical Travel will coordinate an itemised quotation showing what's included, along with any travel-support services. The final treatment plan and price are confirmed after your clinical examination in Türkiye.
Contact your Alp Medical Travel coordinator to request a preliminary assessment and quotation from one of our partner dental clinics.
