Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are used to cover teeth that are damaged, stained or mishappen. A veneer is made from porcelain and is bonded to the front surface of your tooth – it does not cover the entirety of the tooth. Veneers are an effective way of aesthetically improving your smile by creating a natural look. The colour of the porcelain can be chosen to match the shade of your teeth precisely. If you wish to have your teeth whitened, we recommend doing this prior to having the veneers created. This is something that we can help facilitate at Alp Medical Dental as part of your overall smile makeover.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Veneers can improve your smile by giving you even teeth and a natural look. We appreciate that our clients want teeth that don’t look too “fake” whilst helping to transform their smile and give them that much-needed confidence boost. Porcelain veneers are similar to natural teeth when it comes to the reflection of light, giving a more realistic finish and avoiding an artificial appearance.

Veneers are durable. If your veneers are taken care of properly, they can easily last over 15 years. They are also stronger than other dental options available, such as composite bonding.

How is it done?

Your teeth may need to be filed down before the veneers are fitted. A thin layer of enamel will be removed from your teeth and as there are no nerve endings, this will be painless. However, if you are anxious regarding the procedure, we can offer you sedation. Preparing the tooth prior will ensure that the bond between your natural tooth and the veneer is stronger.

During the next step, an impression is taken of the teeth in order to create a mould.

Your veneers will be created and during your next appointment at the clinic, the veneers will be fitted using a strong dental adhesive. Light is then shone on the veneers to speed up the hardening process.

What is the downtime?

After your veneers have been fitted, you may feel some sensitivity. Other than that, there is no downtime.

Aftercare

It is important to care for your veneers to make sure they last as long as possible. At Alp Medical Dental, we will give you all of your aftercare instructions after your veneers have been fitted. The main recommendations are:

  • Make sure you brush your teeth regularly (twice daily)
  • Floss regularly
  • Make sure you attend dental check-ups

How much does it cost?

The cost for one veneer is from £XXXX, which is significantly cheaper than in the UK and other countries.
